InAcademia works with ISIC to improve student validation

InAcademia is excited to announce a new initiative together with ISIC - International Student Identity Card which will see both parties promoting improved student validation processes across the ISIC community.

“Every year, millions of students around the world use their ISIC to prove their official student status and access thousands of student discounts, offers and services worldwide. This is the first step in future actions being prepared by ISIC and InAcademia” said Djuro Blanusa, ISIC Association Head of Operation.

This relationship establishes a framework for ISIC’s regional offices to use InAcademia and replace their existing student verification processes with our federated identity-based alternative. Through doing so both the issuer and the end users will benefit from a quick and efficient, real-time solution that requires no document uploads or manual checks of eligibility. InAcademia ensures the individual’s privacy is maintained throughout and, by removing the need for the collection of sensitive information, simplifies data compliance for the issuer. The whole process is also entirely paperless so avoids unnecessary admin and at the same time is good for the environment.

The ISIC Association is the non-profit organisation behind the International Student Identity Card (ISIC) and manages the delegation of card issuing to private companies on a regional basis. First established in 1953, the ISIC is issued in close to 130 countries and is available to all bona fide students over the age of 12, regardless of their nationality, race, gender or religion. The ISIC card has been endorsed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) since 1968. The card provides access worldwide to over 150,000 products, services or experiences and is recognised by universities, academic institutions, student unions, national governments, financial institutions and ministries of education around the world.
